8 Foot Custom Aquarium, Quality Engineered

All of our standard and special aquarium sizes, including the 8-foot custom aquarium size, have optimized engineering to determine the minimum thickness required for each individual panel of glass. We don’t settle for a one size fits all formula but rather optimize every individual panel in the aquarium based on engineering standards for your needs.

For example – if you have us modify your 24″H x 72″L x 24″D to a 24″H x 96″L x 24″D aquarium, you don’t need thicker side panels, just thicker front, back and bottom panels. By comparison, other aquarium manufacturers will automatically increase the thickness of every panel just because one panel needs to be thicker, or they will skimp on all panels because they don’t want to have to upgrade just some of them. Custom Aquariums’ professional engineers use advanced pressure rating formulas to optimize every aquarium to have a minimum safety factor of 2.3 (the industry’s minimum standard). However, because of our aluminum frame system, some of our aquariums are even stronger with a safety factor of 3.5. By using this technique, we are able to achieve the highest strength at the lowest cost – so don’t be surprised if our prices and weights are a lot better than other aquariums out there of the same size. Of course, these are minimum standards. You are always free to upgrade any panel for any reason, like additional peace of mind.

Aquarium Shapes

Our 8-foot custom aquariums come in various shapes and sizes including: Square, Rectangular, Pentagon, Hexagon.

Rimless Aquariums

We can also customize most of our standard glass aquariums, including the 8-foot custom aquarium, to be made as rimless glass aquariums. The rimless aquarium works great for frag tanks, island tanks, turtle tanks, and more! Custom Aquariums’ polished beveled edge and superior craftsmanship make our rimless tanks the premier rimless brand on the market today. Our Majestic® stands come with center supports, so even our largest rimless glass aquariums are well supported. We also innovated a unique center concealment column (exclusive to Custom Aquariums) to assist in adding plumbing, such as our H2Overflow® and Siphon Stoppers®, to make filtration easy for island tanks.

Glass vs Acrylic Aquariums

There are advantages and disadvantages to using either glass or acrylic for your 8-foot custom aquarium, and the Custom Aquariums team has extensively evaluated what type of custom aquariums to use. For example, we have to consider not only the installation difficulties but also the long-term viability of our investment. After analyzing the difference, the choice between glass or acrylic aquariums is quite clear because most often you are sacrificing a long-term benefit of glass aquariums in exchange for a short-term benefit of acrylic aquariums. Please see our glass vs acrylic page for more information on our evaluation of glass vs. acrylic 8-foot custom aquarium.
