Tom's 125-gallon Rimless Reef Display
Tom purchased a rimless 125-gallon aquarium with Ultra-clear glass to replace his old acrylic tank that was a challenge to keep clean.
Custom Aquariums is proud to provide Tom with a beautiful rimless glass 125-gallon aquarium. When it comes to choosing glass over acrylic, Custom Aquariums highly recommends choosing glass. The reason is because the disadvantages of using glass can be engineered around, whereas acrylic's fatal flaws cannot. Acrylic is often a popular option for manufacturers and hobbyists because it is both easy to fabricate and is light weight. Acrylic takes a relatively extreme investment in tooling, equipment, and engineering to be able to cut and manipulate heavy sheets of glass. This is the main reason most custom aquarium manufacturers use acrylic, not because of the benefits of the material itself lends to the final product. Many hobbyists and small manufacturers can create custom aquariums with very simple inexpensive equipment. However, the end product is not so durable, and the material is very expensive when compared to glass.
Many thanks to Tom for your business and thank you for choosing Custom Aquariums!

Mike's 75-gallon Angelfish Display
Mike purchased a custom 75-gallon tank with stand and canopy from CustomAquariums.
Through our experience in the pet enclosure manufacturing industry it was a natural fit for us to do aquarium services as well, not only as a way to expand our business, but as a way to continually stay in touch with the needs of our customers. Thus, Serenity Aquarium and Aviary Services (www.SerenityUSA) was born. Currently, the service division of our business service hundreds of aquarium accounts all over the country ongoing and employs dozens of professional service technicians, some of which have 25+ years individual experience servicing and maintaining aquariums. Some of our full time professional service technicians are among the most well-known experts in the industry when it comes to the care and maintenance of aquariums.
Through our experience in the service business and our attention to detail creating a low hassle, low maintenance service for our customers, we soon discovered that a lot of the commercially available aquarium products on the market were lacking in quality and are not engineered for a long term customer satisfaction and reliability experience. Tanks would look sloppy over time, parts would wear out, and maintenance was not as simple as it could be. We found most products on the market were built to be cheap, have high long term costs of consumables, and wear out. We knew we could do better.
A New Aquascape: 75-gallon
Time to try again on one of my planted aquariums. This time I am considering the hardscape more seriously.
None of our systems are a one size fits all approach. Depending on every unique circumstance, we can build many sizes, shapes, and configurations with our systems to order. When we got done designing, re-designing, testing, and perfecting these systems for our service business, they were simply too good to not share with everyone else, and thus, CustomAquariums.com was born as a way to sell our products to other end user customers as well as other service companies outside of our own use. Now, you can have the same high quality, best in class aquarium systems in your own home or office that we use every day in our high end commercial aquarium service business.
Ryan's 300 Gallon Custom Glass Aquarium
This 300-gallon custom glass aquarium and filter system from Custom Aquariums has been three years in planning. Ryan has made a LOT of modifications on the filter system to accommodate the unique requirements for a reef aquarium of this size.
The Seamless Sump filter system is designed to be adaptable, permitting creative plumbing solutions to be applied for any situation. The modular design of the filter system provides a level of flexibility that an all-in-one sump system does not.
Ryan's filter begins when water leaves the tank through two H2Overflow screens into a 4-sock Sock Tub that he custom drilled to permit a higher rate of flow than it is initially rated for. (We love it when we are taught something about our own systems!) The water then passes into the Baffle Tub, which Ryan has hard-piped with 1.5" pvc to two Reservoir Tubs. The large pipes and custom plumbing is needed for this tanks very high flow rate provided by an external pump that pushes in excess of 2800 gph. Typically, we would suggest a three-overflow system for a rate that high, but Ryan's custom modifications to the filter system make it work.
Martee's 125 Gallon Custom Glass Aquarium
"This is my first reef tank from Custom Aquariums. I liked what they offered on-line and I bought all the equipment from them. I am very happy with it. It works great. It's a simple set up. It's what I was looking for. It's easy for me because I wanted something simple with my schedule. It works and it's easy to clean. I love it!"
- Martee Bishop
Martee's 125-gallon custom glass aquarium was built to fit into the space he designed in the cabinetry of his home office. The aquarium can be viewed from the office and from the home's living room. This reef aquarium uses the Seamless Sump filter system with an additional protein skimmer. Lighting is provided by a Current LED strip light.
Martee had the aquarium drilled on one end so that he can hide the plumbing. The filter system is kept under the aquarium in a cabinet that he lined with a shower pan adapted to fit the space. A drain in the pan leads to a floor drain in the basement, so in the very unlikely event that the Seamless Sump filter were to overflow, the water will be directed to the drain and not damage the cabinet or hardwood floors.
Thank you Martee for choosing CustomAquariums.com for your coral reef tank purchase.
Dennis' 300 Gallon Custom Glass Aquarium
"I am extremely pleased with the aquarium. I have absolutely no trouble. Your customer service has been outstanding. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in such as aquarium to look this company up, because I am very highly satisfied."
- Dennis Henke
Dennis purchased his custom glass aquarium from CustomAquariums for the coral reef aquarium he wanted to have in his home. The set up includes a 300-gallon glass aquarium, contemporary black Majestic cabinet stand and canopy, and the complete Custom Aquariums Seamless Sump filter system with H2Overflow screens and Siphon Stopper emitters.
Dennis filtration also includes an external plumbed protein skimmer and a large ultraviolet sterilizer. The lighting is provided by a high-output LED lighting system.
Dennis' reef aquarium system is simple, easy to maintain and can grow the less demanding soft corals and organisms that grow on the live rock. With a few additional pieces of equipment like more intense lighting, a calcium reactor and supplement dosing system, Dennis' reef aquarium would be able to grow the more difficult stony corals.
Thank you Dennis for choosing CustomAquariums.com for your reef aquarium.

Michael's 200 Gallon Custom Glass Aquarium
"When I was looking to order a special tank I went to Custom Aquariums. I am very happy with this tank. It is a 200-gallon tank and I couldn't be happier."
- Michael Crawford
Michael Crawford's 200-gallon reef display starts with a custom glass aquarium from CustomAquariums.com . The rimless aquarium measures 48" x 48" x 22" tall. The tank has filtration plumbing holes cut through the glass in the upper back side of the tank, one for the skimming overflow and the other for water return.
Mike is a talented aquarist with 30 years of experience designing and building marine aquarium systems, and 20 of those years with corals. Mike has seen it all, knows the strategies that work and the fads that have not.
Designing and building coral reef aquarium filtration systems from components is a part of Michael's hobby, and the filter for his aquarium is a compilations of pieces that he has had for many years combined with a few new parts and some interesting DIY solutions.
Water leaves the aquarium through a silencing overflow box which drains to the filter system in the basement. The filtration includes a refugium, protein skimmer, calcium reactor, carbon reactor, and carbon dioxide injection (for the calcium reactor). The system is controlled by a monitoring mechanism that measures hardness, pH and other parameters and let's Michael know when conditions change and may need attention.
Michael's sump reservoir is a 50-gallon barrel that is plumbed to another 50-gallon mixing barrel. When he performs a water change he can premix the marine salt solution, let it age, drain an equivalent amount from the sump reservoir and replace it with new water from the mixing barrel.
Michael has a DIW in-line heating system that incorporates two sumbersible heaters resting inside a network of 2" pvc that water passes through and around the heaters. The control dials for the heaters are accessible outside the pvc housing because of Michael's ingenious use of compression couplings from an old chiller unit.
Water is returned with a powerful external pump that can lift the water from the filtration system in the basement up to the aquarium on the main floor.
The tank is set on a home-made stand that straddles the top of the stairwell into the basement. Michael also built the canopy that sets over the aquarium and contains the lighting system that Michael also designed and built.
Michael is an electrician by trade, so building his own high-output LED lighting system was a given. He built them out of the LED chips, heat sinks and fans that are installed large coffee cans mounted inside the canopy. The power sources for the lights are located away from the aquarium. Supplemental florescent T5 tubes even out the light and reduce the shimmer.
Michael's reef aquarium, filter system and lighting units are very effecting, and he is able to grow a wide array of corals, and can grow them so well that he is able to sell fragments from the tank back to the aquarium store to support the cost of the aquarium.
Thank you Michael for choosing CustomAquariums.com to be a part of your reef aquarium build.

Working with Custom Aquariums for our custom turtle tank was awesome! They were willing to stain the tank green to match some of the other furniture we have in our restaurant and the construction quality was spot on. Also, the filtration system we bought from Custom Aquariums is rock solid as well. Turtle water is usually hard to keep clean but the filtration system we have is a workhorse...our turtles are pampered so that was a must-have for us! I would recommend these guys to anyone interested in a great aquarium setup

I am highly satisfied with my purchase with custom aquariums, from my first conversation with Mike Grimes, to my final product, the service has been exceptional. I am thrilled with my customized product.Rachel Moody,
I sent a request into the customer service asking about my tank that had just developed a crack in the top brace. Seeing as it was a holiday, I did not expect to hear from anyone on the same day, but to my surprise I had a response within the hour. While the answer to my question was not what I was hoping to hear, I was very pleased with the quick response and the honest advise given. I will be sure to visit Custom Aquariums in the future for all of my aquatic needs!! I am very satisfied with the service that I received!Jessica W.
Well the tank was started up Saturday night. It's very quiet which we love! So there's still some clarity yet to go, but I'm sure by tomorrow it should be crystal clear.Alan Schafer
I wanted to send all of you down at Custom Aquariums an email regarding the beautiful aquarium that your company has built for me. First of all, the quality and craftsmanship put into this tank is absolutely outstanding! It is literally a 630 gallon work of art. I can barely put into words how beautiful this tank looks in my living room, and its not filled yet. The metal framework bracing the aquarium looks really sturdy and adds a very professional classy frame. I only point this out because most tanks out here in California I have seen use flimsy plastic or glass supports. So hands down your design is superior by far.
I also would like to mention, the amount of care the wood shipping container the tank came in was impressive, it was like a small house was built around the tank just to keep it safe, I appreciate that. And with your moving kit we brought it into the house with relative ease, don't think the ten of us could of done it without them.
To the workers that had their skilled hands on my tank, you guys have created a a true work of art. Thank you for being the true craftsmen that you are. I know my order was a tall one which had some ups and downs -- thank you for seeing it through and building a quality tank for me, your craftsmanship shines all over this tank and each of you deserve recognition for your work, I am very pleased.
Mike, your customer service has been great ever since you first stayed late to take my order. This aquarium was not only worth the wait for you guys to build it ,but also worth every penny and then some. The quality is unmatched by any other tank I have ever seen, and I will gladly speak highly of your company to anyone whom is in the market for a glass tank built by true craftsmen.
In closing, I want the whole company of Custom Aquariums to know how very pleased I am with my aquarium that I purchased and I wish your company massive growth and happiness for years to come. Feel free to share this email with the world. I will send some pictures when I get the tank all set up! It will be a beautiful focal point of my house for my family and all that come to enjoy.
Thank you,Eric Cook

The 150gal tank I got from Custom Aquariums came in 700lb crate, and was very well packed. The tank and stand are of a very high quality and is 3/4" construction. Here are some pictures: A great tank and stand.Rich
Here is a great example of a 200 Gallon 360 view Hexagon we made for our sister service company Serenity Aquarium and Aviary Services. We have our own aluminum bracing system that gives really great support to all 6 sides - this allows us to make really big, really strong hexagon tanks at the most affordable price point anywhere - and the best part - they are glass!. Here is a photo of a 400 gallon custom glass aquarium and seamless sump filter for Dr. Bob C. in Las Vegas, NV.
ATM (from the show "Tanked") installed the tank for the customer - will be building an impressive reef as well as performing ongoing service. It's turning out awesome Dr. Bob! Thank you for your business and support! We are proud to have great relationships with acrylic tank manufacturers like ATM to help serve the customers who prefer glass over acrylic.
I have a 300 gal. reef aquarium that the top center glass brace broke off. After measuring the ends and center I noticed the center of my tank had bowed a full inch. In fearing that my front glass wouldn't stand the water pressure I looked online for any help I could find. Within the hour customaquariums.com came to my rescue. And within 3 hours a plan was in place! Thank you so much customaquariums.com for your quick concern to my emergency and helpful staff. I also have to say in being in this hobby for the past 25 years. It's been a major concern with the structure of aquarium tanks holding up to wear and tear caused by saltwater, new wave makers, and just water pressure. The design of the marine grade anodized aluminum frame makes for a long time worry free hobby.Jesse Arias
I have a 220 gallon aquarium and I needed to replace the current acrylic sump that had started to leak so I purchased a sump system from Custom Aquariums .com to replace the current acrylic sump.
I wanted a sump that I did not have to worry about leaking over time. I found the Seamless Sump System at Custom Aquariums. It is a modular system that you can customize to fit your aquarium. After a phone call for some advice I purchased two Seamless Sump® Baffle Tub Complete Package tanks along with one Single Reservoir Tub.
I needed a system that I could use as a filter and an over flow for my auto water change system I had installed. Because the Seamless Sump System is modular they helped customize the system to fit my needs. The system is built like a tank and should last a life time. I have had the system setup and running for about 6 months. It is keeping the aquarium chemical levels (Nitrites, nitrates. Ph, etc.) At normal levels and the water stays crystal clear. Using the Seamless Sump System along with my Auto Water Change System I had built that changes eighteen gallons of water per day I have had zero issues keeping the aquarium over stocked. I would highly recommend buying a sump system from Custom Aquariums. It will last you a life time.Wade Sommer form North West Wisconsin
