The single Reservoir Tub comes in three possible configurations: 1) No fittings or drilled holes, 2) Drilled low for an evaporation tub, 3) Drilled high for a reservoir or refugium. A glass lid is included with all configurations.

Typically the left side will feed back into the pump tub or an additional reservoir tub (often plumbed low as an evaporation tub).
The screens help prevent debris from traveling back to your pump. The more screens the higher the flow rate.
Typically the right side will connect to an additional reservoir tub (often plumbed high as a refugium).

Description

The reservoir tub is a very popular way to add extra volume to a Seamless Sump® Filtration System.

Drilled for Reservoir / Refugium

If you want the tub drilled as a refugium, a 1/2″ bulkhead is placed 11.81″ from the bottom of the tub, giving you a nice reservoir for fish, coral, or plants. This is often recommended for saltwater aquariums.

Drilled for Evaporation

As an evaporation tub, the 1/2″ bulkhead is placed 2.31″ from the bottom of the tub. This provides you with a little over 10 gallons of evaporation loss before the water falls below the recommended level for most standard pumps. This is often used for freshwater aquariums.

If you have room in your stand, it’s ideal to have two reservoir tubs; one for evaporation and one as a refugium.
